Celebrating Wheeler Bio and OKC’s growing bioeconomyPublished: Wednesday, October 18, 2023 By: Kenton Tsoodle Source: The Journal Record
It was exciting to attend the grand opening of Wheeler Bio, a new boutique biomanufacturing contract development and manufacturing organization and anchor tenant in the Convergence development – the heart of Oklahoma City’s Innovation District.
Wheeler Bio was founded by Dr. Jesse McCool, Christian Kanady of Echo Investment Capital and Errik Anderson of Alloy Therapeutics in 2021. Earlier this month, we celebrated the grand opening of its 35,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility in Kerr Park with live music, industry speakers and facility tours.
A pioneer in biomanufacturing, Wheeler Bio is a purpose-built pharma services business for developers of next-gen protein therapeutics. It supports the drug development supply chain by providing its clients with expert development services and access to high-quality preclinical and clinical trial materials. Whereas it typically takes 18 months for innovators to move from drug discovery to first-in-human clinical trials, Wheeler Bio’s platform saves six months off the timeline.
